Butterworth-Heinemann | 2006-04-06 | ISBN: 0750664010 | 320 pages | PDF | 1,3 MB
This book is designed primarily for middle and junior managers who deal with financial information without really understanding the content and for students who are studying accounting as a non-specialist subject, for example on a business studies or engineering course. The book will serve as a basic reference to be used throughout the course. It will also be particularly helpful in providing the basic grounding that is required before moving on to the more technical and in-depth study of the subject that may be required on some courses. Students who are embarking on a course of study to become a professional accountant will find this book of major benefit.
The book covers the basic principles and techniques of both financial and management accounting, assuming that the reader has no prior knowledge of the subjexts.
Written in a clear and concise style the book explains accounting principles and terminiology without the use of technical jargon. There are plenty of opportunities for readers to test their progress with regular review and self-test questions.
The second edition includes new material throughout and the number of practical exercises and real-life examples has been expanded. This edition also reflects the requirement for all EU listed companies to comply with International Finacial Reporting Standards.
Janet Walker is a Visiting Lecturer in the Faculty of Finance at Cass Business School. She also presents financial awareness courses for CIMA and for other organisations and presents financial awareness seminars in house for a whide varitey of companies.
* Clear and easy to read
* Does not use jargon
* Focuses on the principles and use of accounting information, rather than the technical detail
* Provides material for self-testing with review questions throughout to assess progress at each stage
* Many fully worked exercises and examples

It is important for academics, students, practitioners, regulators and researchers to consider and study the role and relationship of such bodies with the practice and content of our discipline.
Research in Accounting Regulation seeks high quality manuscripts which address accounting regulatory policy, broadly defined, including:
1. self regulatory activities
2. case law and litigation
3. legislation and government regulation
4. the economics of regulation of markets, and disclosure, including modeling
5. matters involving the structure of education, licensing, and accreditation
The editors encourage submission of original empirical, behavioral or applied research manuscripts which consider strategic and policy implications for regulation, regulatory models and markets. It is intended for individual researchers, practitioners, regulators and students of accountancy who desire to increase their understanding of the regulation of accoun

Peter Cheverton, "If You're So Brilliant ...How Come You Can't Identify Your Key Customers?: The Essential Guide to Key Account Selection "

Key account management (KAM) is not a sales initiative, it is a business-wide process that must be managed and supported from the top. Here we have a book or all those involved in the management of key accounts, but uncertain about how these important customers are identified, selected and managed. In a clean, direct style, Cheverton cuts to the quick and shows how to achieve the core objectives of KAM: retain existing customers in a competitive environment; grow through acquiring new long term contracts; achieve global `preferred supplier` status; manage customers serviced by several departments in a consistent way; create a customer intimate business; achieve operational excellence. `Managing the future` Cheverton says is the purpose of KAM: achieving a realistic balance between objectives, the market opportunity and the resources available. Global cases, tools, techniques and exercises are all features of this inspired little book.

John G. Salek, " Accounts Receivable Management Best Practices"

"An excellent reference tool on how to manage the accounts receivable process for any company. The use of real-life examples makes the concepts easy to understand. I recommend the book to anyone who wants to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt loss."
—Michael E. Beaulieu, Senior Vice President, Finance Cardinal Health
"Rather than simply explaining how to get the greatest return from an investment in accounts receivable, John G. Salek reveals how companies shoot themselves in the foot when management sets policies and procedures without consideration of the impact on cash flow. Accounts Receivable Management Best Practices isn't just for credit and collection professionals who often spend more time cleaning up process errors and other corporate 'garbage,' instead of managing risk. It should be required reading for C-level executives, the sales staff, operations managers, and anybody else whose job impacts the order-to-cash cycle."
—David Schmidt, Principal, A2 Resources Coauthor of Power Collecting: Automation for Effective Asset Management
"Enhancing a company's competitive profile is all about giving enough customers the right product, at the right price, at the right time. This author's real-world approach to accomplishing this goal through the prism of receivables management makes this book a must-read for those companies looking to make their mark as an organization that cares about its customers as well as their own need to produce financial results."

The book is a timely collection of several original research papers written by well-known authors and experts in the field from countries around the globe on very important and emerging issues in international accounting.
